Rico Yan look-a-like AJ Perez dies at 18

AJ Perez who is Antonello Joseph Sarte Perez in real life was declared dead on arrival in the hospital on April 17, 12:20 a.m. due to multiple head injuries sustained in a car accident in Tarlac.

The 18-year-old actor who was best known playing the role of "Dido" opposite Jessy Mendiola in Sabel was on his way home from Pangasinan when the van he and five others were riding crashed with a passenger bus and trailer truck. He was in Dagupan on Saturday for the celebration of Bangus Festival.

AJ's companions which included his father, road managers and ABS-CBN driver are currently seeking treatment in the hospital. There are no reports yet regarding the status of the bus and truck passengers.

Perez has been greatly compared with the late actor Rico Yan due to his good looks and charm. It's sad that like Rico Yan, his life was taken at a young age. Just like Yan, Perez was a member of Star Magic, ABS-CBN's circle of homegrown talents.

He was paired with Lauren Young in Lobo and Your Song Presents: Underage. He was set to join Mara Clara stars Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes for a movie that will be directed by Cathy Garcia Molina. Shooting was said to have started this April.
